Her story
From a high-school mat to a healing practice
Cheryl began practicing yoga in high school in the late 1970s. In her early twenties, recovering from a serious illness, she rediscovered fitness and yoga, and felt firsthand how powerfully the body can heal when it's met with patience instead of force.
She started teaching aerobics and fitness in the mid-1980s at a recreation center in Middle Tennessee, weaving yoga more deeply into her teaching with every passing year. Today she counts tens of thousands of hours in yoga and movement instruction.
Rather than open a typical multi-style studio, Cheryl envisioned something quieter: an intimate setting for people to explore how yoga, movement and breath could help them live healthier lives, to heal, and be free from pain. In 2014, that became The Chattanooga Yoga Center.
"More than anything, she loves watching her students grow and heal."

How it feels here
Safe, sane & subtle
This is a small room on purpose. There's no back row to hide in, just a handful of mats, a teacher who learns your name, and props within arm's reach for whenever you need them.
Whether you're brand new, easing back from an injury, or deep into your practice, you'll be met where you are. Several classes are even offered live on Zoom, so the same calm comes home with you.
